Vensac en Live

Between ocean and forest

Just follow a small path to discover the Guâ marsh and get a feel for a place once used by its inhabitants. The marsh area was used for breeding, and the edges of the Guâ marsh and the ocean area were used for grazing. With this walk in the heart of the marsh, you will learn about the species of butterflies that inhabit these wetlands. An opportunity to see the riches of an amazing natural heritage.

The Vensac mill

TO ADMIRE FROM THE OUTSIDE!

Restored as it was in its heyday, it fascinates visitors with its original parts: the roof structure, large cogwheel, gears, millstones and others copied from original pieces. Everything was done with the greatest respect for local 19th-century materials such as oak and pine. The Moulin de Vensac is no longer open to visitors, but remains a landmark in the commune.

Fun fact!

A real originality of the commune "Les Mounaques" appeared in the summer of 2001. In the greatest secrecy, Benoît and Souad made about sixty rag dolls called "les Mounaques" which represented the village and its local personalities such as the mayor, the priest, the village warden, the postman and even the residents. The whole population could have recognized themselves in these life-size dolls. The people of Vensac, surprised and amused by this idea, have in turn put their own Mounaques in their gardens. An atypical desire to bring this pretty Medoc village to life. Since then, a small group of volunteers have continued to put up these displays every year, often on humorous themes, to the delight of villagers and visitors alike, who can admire them from 21 June to 15 October, mainly on the town hall square in the centre of the village. In winter, from December 1st to the end of January, "les Mounaques" decorate the centre of the village to evoke the Christmas season.

The Thursday evening market

NOT TO BE MISSED!

In 2001, Vensac was the first commune in the Médoc to organise a Thursday evening market in July and August. Since then, this event has become very famous and unmissable for Vensac residents, Médoc residents and holidaymakers from France and abroad. On the Place de l'Église, local and foreign gastronomy is offered for tasting on the spot in the courtyard of the nursery school, in an atmosphere of great conviviality.
