The lighthouses of Hourtin are square towers of 27 m high, made of exposed brickwork on a stone base. They are 200 metres apart on a north/south axis. The lighthouses of Hourtin were built in 1860, to signal the shadowy interval between the Pointe de Grave and the Cap Ferret, where no lights were visible. The two lanterns shone for the first time in 1863. A forest road with closed access for cars (open to pedestrians and bicycles) leads to the lighthouse. It can also be reached via the network of cycle paths in the state forests of Hourtin and Carcans. It is also an opportunity for a very pleasant walk through this natural area of more than 10,000 hectares, part of which has been classified as a protection forest since 1992.
