Sailing in the Atlantic Médoc, set sail for the horizon
With its large lakes, Médoc Atlantique is an ideal destination for sailing. Sailing takes place in a protected, unspoilt natural setting: perfect for learning, improving your skills… or competing in regattas. Several EFV (École Française de Voile) certified sailing clubs and schools supervise the activity and guarantee structured, safe and high-quality teaching.
Internships for everyone
Learn and progress
from March to November
In Médoc Atlantique, sailing can be enjoyed throughout most of the year, from early spring to late autumn (with increased activity during school holidays). EFV clubs offer packages tailored to everyone: children, teenagers, adults, beginners or those already comfortable on the water. Training is provided by qualified instructors, using a progressive approach: understanding the wind, safety, manoeuvres, steering and independence. Depending on the time of year and conditions, several types of boat are available for beginners or more advanced sailors: “moussaillons” / multi-support courses, optimist / dinghies for children, open Skiff / more dynamic dinghies, windsurfing, catamaran, cabin cruisers (adults)…
Handisailing: an accessible and supervised activity
Disabled sailing is an integral part of the Médoc Atlantique destination, with facilities capable of accommodating individuals or groups with disabilities (IME, MAS, adapted sports centres, etc.). With specialised equipment, trained teams and enhanced supervision, the aim is to provide a shared, safe and adapted experience, whatever the needs.
Navigate independently
with supervised security
Renting equipment is ideal for “having fun” when you already know how to use it. At the destination, it is generally possible from March to November, with a wider range of options available during the season. You will often be given a safety briefing and weather recommendations when you arrive, and water monitoring remains a strong point of the water sports centres, allowing you to enjoy yourself with peace of mind. You can hire paddleboards, Optimists, dinghies, windsurf boards, catamarans and more to sail on the lakes of the Médoc Atlantique. Some centres also offer accompanied disabled sailing, allowing you to gently discover the sport with an instructor on board, using adapted equipment.

Competitions throughout the year
Sailing is also about regattas and competition. On the lakes of Médoc Atlantique, several clubs organise FFV-approved regattas every year, accessible at various levels (local, regional, national and even higher). The natural waters, the quality of the organisation and the friendly atmosphere make it a popular venue for competitors and enthusiasts alike.
