Heritage Days - Heritage in Peril
On Saturday, September 19, and Sunday, September 20, 2026, the European Heritage Days will feature a program of guided tours, exhibitions, lectures, performances, and activities in Lacanau.
Throughout the weekend, the public will have the opportunity to explore sites steeped in history—some of which will be open exceptionally for the occasion—and gain a deeper understanding of the local heritage in all its forms.
Under the theme “Heritage in Peril,” this year’s event will also celebrate the bicentennial of photography. It’s an opportunity to explore, share, and raise awareness about the preservation of this shared heritage, which bears witness to our collective memory.
“Heritage in Peril” Exhibition at Salle l’Escoure:
To mark European Heritage Days, the Artistes Canaulais are presenting an exhibition dedicated to endangered heritage sites.
Painting, drawing, and other pictorial techniques will allow visitors to explore this theme from various perspectives. Through their creations, the artists invite the public to reflect on the preservation, transmission, and future of our cultural and natural heritage.
