Lecture: “Enriching your vocabulary with Brassens and Haddock…” by Jean-Pierre Gauffre.
Friday 5 March at 6.00 pm, at the municipal library: Talk: “Enriching your vocabulary with Brassens and Haddock…” by Jean-Pierre Gauffre.
Journalist, radio commentator, writer, co-founder of the *Journal du Médoc*, and author, amongst other works, of the “Dictionnaires pour rire” series published by Sud-Ouest.
Do you know what a sycophant, an anacoluthon, a blanchecaille, a catachresis, a khroumir or a Saint-Jean Bouche d’Or are?
These rare and colourful words are drawn from the vocabulary of Georges Brassens’ songs and Captain Haddock’s repertoire of swear words. Let’s learn whilst
letting ourselves be carried away by the magic of a song or an image.
This talk will be followed by a chance to chat with the speaker over a drink.
