Low-carbon holiday - Vélodyssée

Treat yourself to an adventure in harmony with nature by taking the Vélodyssée to discover the Médoc Atlantique. Enjoy the magnificent scenery of the Médoc Regional Nature Park while discovering a range of activities, including kayaking and surfing at Lacanau!

Day 1

Discover the treasures of the Gironde estuary by bike and kayak!
Distance: 25 km

10.00 am: Departure by bike from Soulac-sur-Mer.

Start your cycling adventure from Soulac-sur-Mer. In 30 minutes (7 km), pedal along the cycle paths of the Nord Médoc and reach Talais.

10:40: Discover Talais and its picturesque port.

When you arrive in Talais, take time to explore its typical port. Stroll along the quays, discover the colourful fishing huts and soak up the authentic atmosphere of this unique place.

12:00: Lunch at Le Relais de Sophie.

For lunch, head to Le Relais de Sophie. Enjoy a selection of fresh seafood with a magnificent view of the Gironde Estuary.

13:30: Departure from Talais

13:45: Visit to the Pointe d'Argent Spirulina farm.

After lunch, get back on the bikes for around 15 minutes (4.5 km) to reach the Pointe d'Argent Spirulina Farm. Immerse yourself in the world of this versatile seaweed, from its cultivation to its health benefits. A rewarding visit with a breathtaking view over the Estuary.

2.30pm: Afternoon kayaking on the Canal du Güa.

Continue pedalling along the Estuary to the port of Saint-Vivien-de-Médoc, where you will meet up with our partner Kayak et Découverte. Enjoy a kayaking session on the Güa channel and explore the rich flora and fauna of the Haut-Médoc (approx. 2 hours).

16:30: Return to Soulac-sur-Mer: 13 km - 50 minutes.

5.30pm: Arrival and check-in at the Palace campsite.

After a sportive day, don't hesitate to take advantage of the outdoor and indoor water park or the wellness area to recover as much as possible.

8.00 pm: Dinner

We recommend that you dine at our partner LB in the centre of Soulac-sur-Mer. This restaurant offers inventive cuisine and has a lovely terrace or a cosy atmosphere inside.

Day 2

From Soulac-sur-Mer to Lacanau by bike
Distance: 65 km (4 hours)

10.00 am: Depart Soulac-sur-Mer.

Get on your bike and cycle to Hourtin for lunch (40 km, 2h30 from Soulac-sur-Mer).

12:30: Lunch in Hourtin.

Beach at our partner Le Grillon (20-30€)

14h00: Departure from Hourtin.

17:00: Arrival at Lacanau Océan and check into your Yelloh! Village Les Grands Pins accommodation, which has been awarded the European Ecolabel and is bike-friendly.

After settling in, you can also take advantage of the campsite's water facilities or its wellness area.

7.30pm: Dinner.

For your evening, head to the Sunset Bar, a bar on the beach where you can enjoy a drink and sample their dishes or tapas, with your feet in the sand, to admire a Canaulais sunset.

Day 3

Discover Lacanau and the surrounding area
9.00am: Surfing

To make the most of the ocean, you can try your hand at surfing with our partner the Cheeky Family. This surf school is located to the south of Lacanau, a real haven of relaxation and conviviality. After your surf lesson, suitable for all levels, enjoy the unique setting of this auberge with its guinguette serving home-cooked food.

14:00: Head for Arcachon

Hop on your bike and head for Le Porge and then Arcachon to continue your adventure on the Vélodyssée.
