Visit the Arros battery
With a specialist guide from the archaeological group, discover the history of this pre-war French battery captured by the Germans in June 1940, then transformed into one of the most important batteries of the Atlantic Wall in the Pointe de Grave sector, before being liberated in April 1945.
Preserved from marine erosion, this site is a particularly rich and complete example of a coastal battery. The numerous structures visited will provide an opportunity to discover their functions, layout and interior equipment.
The visit is also an opportunity to discover this extraordinary line of defense, baptized "Atlantikwall" by the Germans and made up of bunkers, casemates and other structures to standardized plans, and to understand why, when, how and by whom it was designed and built.
