Festival of the Environment, the Forest and the Trades of The Médoc (FEFOMM)
Every year, Carcans-Maubuisson celebrates nature and traditional skills at the Festival of the Environment, the Forest and the Trades in the Médoc. This event honours old trades with demonstrations such as a hundred-year-old mobile steam sawmill and enhances expertise in agriculture, forestry and tourism through talks, performances, sporting events and concerts.

From 11 to 13 September, Carcans-Maubuisson will be celebrating nature and traditional crafts as part of the FEFOMM. Demonstrations of traditional trades, talks, shows, sporting events and concerts will provide the highlight of these four days dedicated to the agricultural, forestry and tourist treasures of the Médoc.
Activities and demonstrations
Immerse yourself in the heart of the Médoc forest and discover the trades that shape it. From a demonstration of a mobile steam-powered sawmill to exhibitions on pastoralism, the festival offers a range of interactive activities that showcase the traditional and modern skills of local craftspeople. Take part in educational walks and enjoy performances that celebrate the connection between people and nature.
The 2026 programme
From 11 to 13 September 2026, FEFOMM will be bringing Carcans-Maubuisson to life with three days of events, demonstrations and activities centred on the forest, the environment and careers in the timber industry.
Friday 11 SeptemberFrom 10.00 am to 4.00 pm, the Forestry and Timber Careers Fair offers the chance to meet professionals from the sector and find out about careers, training and job opportunities. At 7.00 pm, a conference in the Salle de l’Estran will address sustainable forest management, employment and the local economy.
Saturday 12 and Sunday 13 SeptemberThroughout the weekend, come and explore the three themed villages at FEFOMM and their wide range of activities:
- demonstrations of logging and forestry machinery,
- mobile steam sawmill and chainsaw carving,
- stilt-walking shows,
- tree climbing and woodworking workshops,
- crafts and designers’ market,
- water sports (both free and paid) on the lake: diving, sailing, canoeing, stand-up paddleboarding, barrel paddleboarding and mini water skiing.
Saturday’s highlightsOn Saturday 12 September, nature walks are also on offer in the Étang de Cousseau Nature Reserve and at the Marais du Pouch. At 8.30 pm, meet at Place du Pôle in Maubuisson for an evening of music with La Moutchica.Some events and activities are available upon registration or booking
A commitment to the environment and the climate
This 5ᵉ edition of FEFOMM provides an opportunity to grasp the link between wooded dunes, wetlands and the climate and to understand the issues at stake in the transformations that are taking shape.
A host of exhibitors
Over 70 exhibitors will be at Maubuisson from 6 to 7 September 2025. In the four villages, visitors will be able to discover local forestry companies and, through them, the different trades they offer, associations and institutional services that work on a daily basis to protect the environment and promote biodiversity, not forgetting forestry training establishments.
