How do I get to Le Verdon-sur-Mer ?
With or without a car, there’s no need to stress : Le Verdon-sur-Mer is a particularly accessible commune, whatever your means of transport ! By car, you can drive along the estuary and take the famous Médoc wine route from Bordeaux, the D2. By bike or on foot, two major European routes pass through the charming seaside resort. Ferries will take you across the Gironde estuary, and trains and buses will take you straight to the paradise of the Pointe de Grave.
Coming by car
From Bordeaux, Le Verdon-sur-Mer is around a hundred kilometres away; allow around 1 ? hours for the journey. The route is simple and charming: take the D1215 towards Le Verdon-sur-Mer. You will follow the estuary and the famous Bordeaux wine route in the Médoc.
From Lyon, take the A89, then the N89 and join the A630 (exit 8 towards Le Verdon-sur-Mer). Then take the D1215 as far as Le Verdon.
From the right bank and the north, a ferry crossing of the Gironde is a must !
Crossing the Estuary by ferry / Coming by boat
From the right bank, if you are near Blaye, take the ferry to Lamarque, then join the D1215.
If you are further north or coming from the Charente-Maritime region, head for Royan and take the ferry across to Le Verdon , where you’ll find plenty of adventure, from walks along the estuary to the famous Cordouan lighthouse.
Coming by train or bus
From Bordeaux, a TER will take you directly to Le Verdon in 2 hours !
From Paris : Bordeaux is now 2 hours away by TGV. Go as far as Bordeaux, then take the TER that runs along the estuary in the Médoc, and you’ll be in paradise in just over 4 hours…
No train ? Take the Transgironde ! This departmental bus runs from Bordeaux to Lesparre (line 422) and then from Lesparre to Le Verdon-sur-Mer (line 4214). Line 4214 will take you to the other Médoc Atlantique communes along the estuary.
On foot or by bike
Le Verdon-sur-Mer is situated on two major routes: the Voie Littorale, the pilgrimage route to Santiago de Compostela, and La Vélodyssée, the major Atlantic cycle route. There are also plenty of cycle paths in Le Verdon, so you can do everything on two wheels right on the spot. Practical, isn’t it ?
