An evening to discover bats
On 16 July, from 8.30 pm to 10.30 pm in Naujac-sur-Mer, the Médoc Regional Nature Park is hosting a free evening event (registration required) to learn about bats. This will give participants the chance to find out more about these fascinating flying mammals, which are often misunderstood but essential to the balance of our ecosystems.
The evening will begin indoors, where young and old alike will learn in a fun way about the lifestyle of bats, their role in nature and the characteristics that make them unique. The evening will then continue outdoors as we set out in search of these discreet inhabitants of our wetlands.
Equipped with ultrasonic detectors, participants will be able to listen to the sounds bats make as they move about and hunt at night. This is a rare opportunity to hear this ‘symphony’ – usually inaudible to the human ear – and to observe local biodiversity from a different perspective.
This event is suitable for children aged 6 and over and makes for an ideal family outing to discover the natural riches of our region.
Bookings via the Médoc Regional Nature Park (to ensure your booking is processed, please specify the following in your email: name and date of the outing, number of people to be booked, age if a child, and telephone number)
We look forward to welcoming many of you for this nocturnal immersion in the heart of the Médoc’s natural landscape !
