Canoe Festival

The Pirogue Festival returns on September 5 and 6, 2026, at Pôle de Maubuisson Beach in Carcans for a weekend celebrating Polynesian culture and water sports!

On the agenda for these two days: V1 and V6 Polynesian canoe races, free introductory sessions, Polynesian dance, crafts, and entertainment in a festive and exotic atmosphere.

On the agenda:

Saturday, September 5:

Single-seater race from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.: 40 participants
V6 crew race from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.: 20 boats (120 people)

Place du Pole:
- Polynesian Village with exhibitors and artisans selling Polynesian products: jewelry (pearls), textiles, tattoos
- Food court (Tahitian-style raw fish—no competition with local restaurants) / refreshment stand (beer and soft drinks)
- Free dance workshop around 4:30 PM
- Free V6 canoe tryouts from 11 AM to 6 PM (1–2 canoes positioned on the beach next to the supervised swimming area

6:30 PM: Awards ceremony

7:30 PM: Tahitian dance performance with the Ore Haunui troupe

Weather permitting... starting at 9:00 PM: “Tahitian party” = Tahitian songs accompanied by ukulele rhythms

Sunday, September 6:

Single-seater canoe relay race from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM: 20 single-seater canoes in a relay / 20 people on the water at the same time

Place du Pole:

- Polynesian Village with vendors and artisans offering Polynesian products: jewelry (pearls), textiles, tattoos
- Food court / refreshment stand
- Free dance and plant-weaving workshops from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM
- Free V6 canoe intro sessions from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM (1–2 canoes positioned on the beach next to the supervised swimming area)

You can also enjoy a food court and a refreshment stand on site.
