The Caraïbos Lacanau Pro is a historic event in the world of surfing, but also for the town of Lacanau. It will take place from 8 to 14 July 2026 in Lacanau-Océan. Since its creation, professional surfers from all over the world have been gathering every year in the height of summer for a popular stage of the Qualifying Series. But more than just a surfing competition, the event is a highlight of the seaside resort thanks to all the activities that surround it. In addition to concerts, craft stalls, sports lessons, surfing lessons and equipment demonstrations, the Caraïbos Lacanau Pro is a time for sharing and celebration just a stone's throw from the ocean.

The Lacanau Pro was created in 1979 by a handful of local surfers who wanted to create an international surfing competition similar to those already existing in Hawaii, Australia and South America. It was a bold move, but one that proved successful!
Over the years, numerous sponsors have proudly flown the flag for the competition, which was unique in France at the time. It didn't take long for the stars of surfing to show up. Indeed, the greatest names in the sport, such as Kelly Slater, Wayne Bartholomew, Tom Curren and, more recently, Justine Dupont, have all made a stop at Lacanau's central beach.

Aware of the privileged environment that hosts it, Caraïbos Lacanau Pro is committed to strengthening its eco-responsible measures and pursuing sustainable initiatives throughout the week.
Several actions focusing on energy, the environment and nutrition have been put in place.

In addition to a carbon assessment of the event, designed to limit its impact in future editions, the week will also feature workshops and meetings led by partner associations: Surf Insertion, See Surf, Water Family, Wings of the Ocean and Surfrider Foundation.

What's more:
For water: drinking fountains will be installed in the exhibitors' village.
For waste management: single-use plastic is banned on the site.
For travel: choose non-polluting transport! Bicycle parking is available at every corner of the Lacanau resort. And to get there from Bordeaux, consider the Bus Transports Nouvelle Aquitaine - line 421 - or carpooling. It's nice to travel with surfers from all over the world!

There will be plenty of entertainment throughout the day with a variety of activities for everyone and catering options in the village. There will also be concerts every evening with a varied musical programme, largely provided by local bands and labels.
