Commemoration of May 8, 1945

The ceremony commemorating the victory of May 8, 1945, and honoring all those who died for France will take place on Friday, May 8, at the church and war memorial in Carcans-Ville.

This year, the commemoration will take on special significance thanks to the exceptional presence of a military detachment from the Southwest Recruitment and Selection Center.
Scheduled for May 8, 2026, this ceremony will commemorate the German surrender signed in Reims on May 8, 1945. It will also pay tribute to two figures connected to the town: Jean Videau, who died for France while in captivity in 1943, and Guillaume Lagunes, a member of the Pérez-Audibert family and a native of the village. His name has just been added to the War Memorial, 86 years after his death in combat near Amiens on May 28, 1940.
