Hike: The Oak Trail, from the dune forest to the marsh
The Médoc Regional Nature Park is offering a field trip to Verdon-sur-Mer titled “The Oak Trail: From the Dune Forest to the Marsh” on November 5 from 2:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., starting at the Maison de Grave.
During this outing, David, a forestry technician with the ONF, will introduce you to the different species of oak found on the site. He’ll share his knowledge to help you learn how to identify them, understand their characteristics, and gain a better understanding of the ecosystems in which they thrive.
The hike will also be an opportunity to learn about acorns, which were once an important food source for local communities. Laurence, a chef, will present their various culinary uses and their potential in the kitchen.
The outing will conclude with a tasting featuring acorns, offering a hands-on way to discover the various possibilities offered by this forest resource.
Ages 9 and up.
Reservations are required through the Médoc Regional Nature Park. To register, please email the name and date of the outing, the number of participants, the ages of any children, and a phone number.
