Temporary Exhibition: "Carcans in the Great War, 1914–1918"
Throughout July and August, the Jean Gasnier Museum in Carcans-Maubuisson invites you, Tuesday through Thursday from 3:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., to explore an exhibition dedicated to the role of Carcans and its residents during World War I.
Through historical documents, photographs, military artifacts, letters, and personal accounts, this exhibition traces the daily lives of the men mobilized at the front as well as those of the families who remained in the village. It highlights the sacrifices made by an entire generation and the profound changes the town underwent during the war years.
This immersion in local history offers a deeper understanding of how this global conflict left a lasting mark on the life of Carcans and its residents. It is a unique opportunity to pay tribute to those who lived through this tragic period and to pass on their legacy to today’s generations.
