The Prévention Routière association is setting up shop in Carcans-Plage for its summer tour!
On Tuesday, July 7, in Carcans-Plage from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., the Prévention Routière association will host road safety awareness workshops (covering alcohol, cell phone use, and reflexes) featuring obstacle courses, challenges, and the distribution of free breathalyzers.
This event is part of an initiative to raise awareness of road risks, which is particularly important during the summer months, a time marked by an increase in risky behavior on the roads.
Throughout the afternoon, participants will be able to take part in several interactive and educational workshops. An obstacle course using simulation goggles will allow participants to experience the effects of alcohol on perception, coordination, and reflexes. The “Bar vs. Home” workshop will highlight the differences in the amount of alcohol served at home versus in bars and restaurants, to help participants better understand drinking guidelines. A third workshop, “Reflexes,” will demonstrate the decline in attention and reaction time when using a cell phone while driving.
Volunteers will be on hand to talk with the public, answer questions, and remind people of good road safety practices. Each participant will also receive a breathalyzer to promote safer travel throughout the summer.
