Wild beach at Vensac, an insider's secret...

Listen carefully, we don’t want everyone to hear: the wild beach at Vensac is an insider’s secret. In Médoc Atlantique, Vensac is best known for its mills, mounaques and inland marshes, so its ocean beach is a perfect haven in summer if you want to sunbathe in peace or stroll along the seafront, away from the hustle and bustle.

The wild beach of Vensac

Like a breeze of freedom

2 km of natural beach await you at Vensac, behind the wild dunes and tall grasses at the end of the Marais du Gua. You won’t come across any ice-cream parlours or chichis vendors here, and you’ll be spoilt for choice when it comes to putting down your towel: the beach at Vensac is very rarely visited!

Like its Atlantic neighbours, it offers a breathtaking panorama of the ocean, untouched by construction. Apart from the ancient remains of the Atlantic Wall and a few bunkers now brightened up by colourful graffiti. Surfers appreciate the tranquillity and the setting.

Picnic

And a walk

Relaxation guaranteed if you’re looking for a nice, quiet spot for a picnic! The beach at Vensac is a bubble of green, blue and gold nature, a perfect change of scenery. Then take the little Marais du Gua path for a leisurely stroll to discover a site between the ocean and the marshes, once used for livestock rearing and grazing. The flora and fauna abound with treasures that you can flush out with your children, particularly the butterflies that are so numerous in this wetland area.

Be warned, though, that you come here to savour the serenity of the landscape, and not necessarily for a swim: the beach at Vensac is not supervised. Exposed to fierce winds, we advise families against swimming here, and recommend that you pay close attention to the baïnes, which are particularly dangerous here.
