Come and celebrate the oyster at the Port of Talais! Every year, the commune of Talais pays tribute to the oyster in its typical little port. It’s a great way to get together with family and friends !

Join us for walks starting from the Port of Talais.
A full programme
A choice of two routes: 8 km and 12 km, through Talais and the surrounding area: the village centre, the picturesque surroundings, the port, the mattes, the dyke and the oyster industry at Baluard…
Registration: from 8.00 am, with a €5 participation fee.
Departure: at 9.00 am
Vin d’honneur: at 11.30am, accompanied by a tasting of oysters
Petanque competition and crab fishing for children from 3.00 pm organised by the Association des Cabaniers du Port de Talais.
There will also be a garage sale and entertainment all day long. For a bite to eat, head to the local guinguettes !
Between marshes, oysters and picturesque charm
In the heart of the Médoc marshes, the port of Talais, a former oyster port on the channel of the same name, is a real hidden gem of the Atlantic Médoc. With its white and blue huts reminiscent of the Bassin d’Arcachon, it immerses visitors in the history of oyster production that predates that of the open sea. The small museum, ‘Mémoire vivante du Port’ (Living Memory of the Port), preserves the tools and accessories that tell the story of this tradition. As you stroll along the mattes, the land reclaimed from the water, you will discover the picturesque atmosphere of the village and enjoy the open-air cafés where you can taste the famous Médoc oysters, prawns and local fish.
