3- The narrow streets of old Soulac in Soulac-sur-Mer

With its beautiful seaside villas, Soulac-sur-Mer is the ideal setting for a romantic stroll. Our suggestion: stroll along the seafront and stop off at a café.

4- The Contaut lagoon at Hourtin

If you enjoyed the lake trail at Carcans-Maubuisson, you’ll love the Contaut lagoon trail. With its wooden footbridge winding through the vegetation and overlooking the lake, this short, easy walk offers a micro-adventure right in the heart of nature.

5- The port of Talais

Talais is one of those Estuary ports that will charm you with its little wooden houses and colourful guinguettes. We love the retro look of the white and blue huts lined with hollyhocks !

6- Super-Sud beach at Lacanau-Océan

At Lacanau-Océan, everyone has their favourite beach, and for good reason! For lovers in search of tranquillity, we recommend the Super-Sud beach: a little way from the resort, it’s an ideal spot for a picnic or an aperitif at the end of the day.

7- Richard lighthouse at Jau-Dignac-et-Loirac

With its lights shining out over the Estuary, the Richard lighthouse offers a beautiful view of the Charente coastline. Below, the “carrelets” (small fishing nets) lining the shore will show you the way for a leisurely stroll along the banks of the Gironde.

8- Piqueyrot beach in Hourtin

Piqueyrot beach nestles to the north of Lake of Hourtin-Carcans. As well as its catchy name, it offers a breathtaking view of the lake. Are ocean sunsets too overrated for you? Then this spot is sure to become your favourite.

In summer, supervised swimming closes at 7pm, so the beaches are completely yours! Lacanau Océan boasts some magnificent beaches, including the little-visited Plage Super Sud. In Soulac-sur-Mer, Les Arros, with its picnic area by the ocean, is a great place to enjoy a friendly moment with friends or family under the Médoc sun.

Surf spots

Lacanau is a must-see destination for surf lovers, combining international competitions, regular waves and a lively nightlife. Further north, Hourtin and Carcans-Océan offer wild beaches, ideal for more authentic surfing and an immersion in nature, particularly at Pin Sec with its surf camps.
