Château Loudenne - AOC Médoc
Château Loudenne, the famous "Château Rose" of the Médoc, is one of the oldest vineyards in the region, shaped by more than 350 years of history. Since 2022, the estate has rediscovered its French roots under the leadership of the Gouache family (already owners of Château Bellerive since 2018), who are breathing new life into the estate while respecting its historical heritage.
A heritage between vineyard and estuary
Built in 1670, this typical Médoc charterhouse overlooks the Gironde estuary. The estate is distinguished by:
- A unique private port: a reminder of a past when wine was already transported by sea.
- The Victorian wine storehouse: built in the 19th century under the influence of the Gilbey brothers, British merchants who made Loudenne an internationally recognised brand.
- An exceptional setting: an English-style park famous for its collection of old roses, surrounding a 62-hectare vineyard ideally located on two gravelly hilltops.
Innovation and sustainable viticulture
Under the management of the Gouache family, Loudenne has become a veritable wine-growing laboratory combining tradition and modernity:
Certifications: the estate is certified Organic (AB) and HVE level 4, and adheres to the Natura 2000 charter.
Innovative practices: use of autonomous electrical equipment, integral parcel vinification and ageing in amphorae or ovoid vats.
New range: in addition to its historic vintages (red, white and rosé), the château now offers varietal wines (sulphite-free Merlot, Malbec, Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet Franc, etc.).
A complete wine tourism experience
A major player in wine tourism, Château Loudenne now offers one of the richest experiences in the Médoc:
- Tours and tastings: open all year round
- Leisure activities: traditional and chic picnics in the park, bike rides through the vineyards and cruises on the estuary aboard the estate's private boat (12 seats).
- Charming accommodation: cottages nestled in the wooded grounds a few steps from the estuary allow for total immersion. These three fully equipped rooms (kitchen, terrace, fireplace) are open all year round.
