Located in the heart of Médoc Atlantique, the VTT and equestrian trail of the Wooded Dunes of Hourtin offers a unique outdoor experience between pine forests, dunes, wetlands and the shores of Lake Hourtin. Designed as a shared trail for mountain bikers and horse riders, it combines sport, nature and environmental awareness.

A marked and safe natural route

The trail is fully signposted and secured, allowing users to explore a protected area that includes the National Nature Reserve of the Dunes and Marshes of Hourtin. Numbered markers help identify locations along the route, ensuring safety while respecting the natural surroundings.

Mountain bike loops for all abilities

Several cross-country MTB loops are available, all with similar technical difficulty but varying in length and elevation:

a short discovery loop for beginners,

longer, more demanding loops for experienced riders.

All MTB routes follow a one-way system, crossing forest tracks, sandy sections and more technical passages, with scenic viewpoints along the way.

A dedicated equestrian trail

Horse riders can enjoy a specific equestrian route, the “Champ du Loup” trail, designed for safe and comfortable riding. Walking and trotting are the main gaits, with short gallops allowed only under suitable conditions. Water points are available, including designated areas for horses to drink at the lake.

Responsible outdoor recreation

This trail promotes responsible use: staying on marked paths, respecting wildlife, keeping dogs on a leash and avoiding sensitive areas. Walkers have priority, and all users are encouraged to practice with care and respect.
