Grande Escoure Festival

From Friday 1st to Sunday 3rd August, and from Friday 8th to Saturday 9th August, the traditional La Grande Escoure festival will take place at the ‘Place des Oiseaux’ in La Grande Escoure, on the shores of Lake Lacanau.

This festival is organised by the La Grande Escoure Festival Committee.

Programme:

As every year in early August, the residents of La Grande Escoure come together for several days of festivities and socialising. Food, concerts, dance evenings, family events and sporting activities are the highlights of this year’s festival, which takes place at the ‘Place des Oiseaux’ and on the lakefront.

Friday 31 July – Place des Oiseaux

From 8 pm, there will be a paella evening, accompanied by a music show featuring hits from the 70s and 80s with Jean-Jacques Moll. The evening will continue with a dance night hosted by DJ Frank.

The menu includes a main course, a dessert, a drink and a coffee. A sangria aperitif will be provided by the festival committee.

Prices: €18 per adult and €13 for children under 12.

Bookings from Monday 27 to Friday 31 July, from 9 am to 12 noon, at the refreshment bar on the Place des Oiseaux. Payment must be made at the time of booking, by cheque or cash only.

Saturday, 1 August – Place des Oiseaux

From 2 pm to 7 pm, the “Piqué de 2 Roues” club will be offering test rides on motorbikes.

At 4 pm, young people aged 14 and under can take part in a radio talent contest.

The evening kicks off at 8.30 pm with a pop-rock concert by the band ‘Joe Six Pack’ from the Landes region. At 10 pm, Pascal, known by the nickname ‘Le Clo-clo Canaulais’, will pay tribute to Claude François. A big, free dance party with DJ Frank will round off the day from 11.30 pm.

Sunday, 2 August – Place des Oiseaux and lakeside

The introductory motorbike rides take place from 10.00 am to 1.00 pm. At 10.30 am, there will be a competition for decorated bicycles.

From 2 pm to 5 pm, children aged 4 to 10 can try out ‘baby-ski’ for free and have their first go at water skiing. From 4 pm, various free beach games will be on offer, including a treasure hunt and a scooter race.

The evening continues at 9.30 pm with the band ‘Lous Vinherouns’ from the Pays de Médoc. At 10.15 pm, there will be a torchlit water-skiing display, followed by a fireworks display at 10.30 pm, subject to approval by the Prefecture.

At 11.30 pm, a big, free dance will begin with DJ Frank.

A flea market will take place from 10.00 to 21.00, with some stalls remaining open into the evening. Refreshments will be available on site.

Saturday 8 August – Place des Oiseaux

A pétanque competition will take place from 2 pm. The festival ends at 9 pm with a big open-air bingo session, with plenty of prizes to be won.
