An iconic spot in the village, the Queyrac pond is a popular leisure area for locals and holidaymakers alike. People come here to fish, stroll along the water’s edge or simply enjoy a moment of peace and quiet surrounded by nature. Picnic areas and shaded paths make it an ideal spot for families and those who enjoy outdoor walks.

Queyrac is right in the heart of the Médoc vineyards, where the noblest grape varieties ripen in the sunshine, with all the pleasures that go with it: lush green walks through vineyards whose colours change with the seasons (autumn is a particular favourite!), wine-tasting, family visits to châteaux…

Dare to push open the doors of the wine estates, where ancestral traditions are infused with the boldness of the younger generation of winegrowers. At Château de Carménère, for example, Richard Barraud has taken the crazy gamble of re-introducing a historic grape variety to Médoc Atlantique. And at Château Saint-Hilaire, they also breed the famous Blonde d’Aquitaine, for whom love is in the vine !

Egrets, swans, herons, wild ducks: who will you be lucky enough to spot in the marshes to the north of the village ? Shh, don’t speak too loudly if you want to take their picture…

These lush green marshes are teeming with fascinating animals that you can observe through binoculars, and give Queyrac the air of a small Medoc Camargue. The ambient humidity makes it a paradise for plants and a blessed natural reservoir for a wide variety of fauna. Its biodiversity is a treasure that the people of the Médoc are working hard to preserve. And what fragrances! Smell that mixture of wet earth and freshly grown grass…

The loop between vineyards and marshes (6.7 km) is very easy to do with the whole family. The Palus loop (3.8 km) is named after the dry marshland that has become suitable for livestock farming. Its advantage: it’s in the shade in summer, providing welcome coolness.

The two loops can be combined for a very long 10 km walk.

Saint-Hilaire Parish Church

History buffs and lovers of religious heritage will be in their element here! When you visit the town centre of Queyrac, you will be surprised to discover that this small village is home to two sacred sites. Firstly, the chapel of Saint Roch, built in ashlar stone in Lescapon, which bears witness to the passage of pilgrims to Santiago de Compostela on the historic route of the Médoc peninsula. The parish church of Saint-Hilaire is the current consecrated church of Queyrac. It was built at the end of the 19th century by the architect Édouard Bonnore. The bell tower with its characteristic silhouette can be seen from the surrounding vineyards.

Queyrac may be a peaceful little village, but it also knows how to celebrate! Queyrac concocts a whole series of activities and events for visitors and residents throughout the year. In June, for example, don’t miss the traditional Fête de la Musique, a lively evening that takes on a special flavour in the middle of the countryside, with concerts and gourmet markets. Pilates, yoga and gymnastics are practised at all ages in Queyrac. Out of season, fishermen and amateur photographers enjoy greeting each other while discovering the magnificent surrounding countryside.
