To discover Soulac’s architectural heritage
Discover the 500 neo-colonial villas for which Soulac-sur-Mer is famous. Follow the Soulac Villas Trail and you’ll be transported back to the Belle Époque as you admire the elegant facades and manicured gardens of these homes. The route starts at the Tourist Office, located at 68 rue de la Plage, and takes you through the picturesque streets of the town, with a not-to-be-missed stop in front of the Basilica of Notre-Dame-de-la-Fin-des-Terres, listed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO as part of the Pilgrim’s Way to Santiago de Compostela.

Between beaches and forests
Soulac-sur-Mer is surrounded by unspoilt natural landscapes, offering plenty of opportunities for walks. The fine sandy beaches, such as Plage Centrale and Plage de l’Amélie, are ideal for seaside walks, with the Cordouan lighthouse as a backdrop. If you want to immerse yourself in nature, take one of the hiking trails through the pine forest and dunes, such as the Soulacaise circuit, where you can discover the local flora and fauna.
Cycling on the Vélodyssée
Soulac-sur-Mer is an ideal starting point for cycling trips along the Vélodyssée. This cycle route follows the Atlantic coastline and offers routes to suit all levels. Cycling south, you’ll reach the wild beaches and typical villages of the Médoc. Heading north, the route takes you to the Pointe de Grave, where you can embark for a crossing to Royan. Bike hire is available in town to make your trip easier.
