The Marathon des châteaux du Médoc
Always in costume!The Marathon des Châteaux du Médoc is an annual marathon race that starts in Pauillac. It is a unique running event that combines running with wine tasting, all in a spectacular setting of châteaux and vineyards.

The Châteaux du Médoc Marathon returns for its 38th edition!
Program details - Friday, September 6
10am to 11pm Number collection and Marathon Village at the Pauillac COSEC
Shuttle buses between Bordeaux and Pauillac will be available on reservation.
7:00 pm Mille-Pâtes evening at Vertheuil Abbey, reserved for 1,450 guests. Entrance is by presentation of the wristband given out at race number collection. Dinner served at 8pm
from 7pm “Pâtes à Caisses” evening at the Salle des Fêtes in Saint Estèphe.
All day long, entertainment on the quays and in the town center, shopping opportunities at the Marathon boutique, Maison du Vin and Marathon Village. Refreshment stands.

The costume theme for 2024 is: “Make your Games!
8 a.m. to 9:15 a.m. Presentation of costumes
9 a.m. Start of the Publicity Caravan
9:15 am Start-up entertainment
9:30 a.m. Start of the Marathon
22 refreshment points along the route, around 20 “oeno-sportive” tests (wine tasting in moderate doses!) 55 events and tasting points (oysters, rib steak, cheese, grapes, ice cream, etc.).
9:30 am to 11:30 am Entertainment on the quayside: Basque force.
4:00 pm Prize-giving ceremony on the quays of Pauillac (barring inclement weather).
7pm Numerous refreshments in the Marathon village, AMCM refreshment stands in Pauillac restaurants and permanent Rugby refreshments from 12pm to midnight at the Maison du Vin.
9pm Dance by Free Spirit
10:30pm Fireworks display.
11pm Dance

Program details - Sunday, September 8
9:30 am Recovery walk in the commune of Vertheuil, for runners, companions, volunteers and partners, registration required (7€). Limited to 3000 people.
12:30 Lunch under marquee at the finish of the ride at Vertheuil Abbey. Reservations required. Access on presentation of registration bracelet only.
12:30 Gourmet village organized by the commune of Vertheuil.
The course
The race takes place over a 42.195 kilometre course, through the vineyards of the Médoc and past the region's famous châteaux. Participants are encouraged to dress up in fun costumes, often relating to the theme of the year's race. The race is usually limited to around 8,500 participants.
