The French California

Médoc Atlantique offers some very unique landscapes but it is above-all, a place where anything is possible, looking out over the ocean. The natural environment here is a rich combination of varied landscapes, from pine forests to vineyards, a long stretch of wild beaches, an estuary, marshlands and lakes, reminding us of another West coast. This little French California is the perfect desintation to recharge your batteries and get back to basics, for a holiday or just a weekend.

Lacanau and Hourtin-Carcans Lakes

A paradise for water sports

On the lakes, we let the colours guide the way. In Lacanau or on the biggest freshwater lake in France in Carcans and Hourtin, every day is a spectacular festival of colours. These two lakes are connected by the Canal des Etangs, and these magical mirrors are also the ideal locations for water sports. Stand-up paddle, windsurfing, kitesurfing, sailing, as a family or with friends, you'll be spoilt for choice.

The thrills and nature here are similar to those experienced at Lake Tahoe and a sailing trip just like in San Francisco, these lakes really are the ideal playground for board sports enthusiasts. They are wild and preserved, sheltered from the strong winds in the morning, and are an ideal place to watch the sun going down in the afternoon, there is no reason not to come and enjoy the lagoon-like appearance of the crystal-clear water. Set sail, put on your wetsuit, grab your oar, and sail off into the horizon!

Vendays-Montalivet Baywatch

Malibu in Médoc

With the lifeguard huts on the beach in Vendays-Montalivet, you could mistake this place for the set of a new episode of Baywatch. The surfboards lined up on the seafront and vintage cars and camper vans really make you feel like you're somewhere else. These are all the typical symbols of another "West Coast". In "Monta", as the people here call it, there is a unique atmosphere which is not at all common in France: that of the Golden Age of California and surfing!
